Dave, They're Finally On! Now to Slam It...

After first pestering D for his Watas over 6 months ago, to receiving them nearly 2 months ago,

I finally have them shoed and fitted!

I think I like the gold, they go well against the grey...

...Dave, no wonder you searched high and low for the perfect 14" offset!

But the fear of the 175's softish sidewalls made me go with the 185's

And last but not least, the 5th wheel.  Actually lighter feel than the 185/65 R13's too!

Now to start seriously pondering suspension height and geometry, incorporating a steering column that cannot be substituted for a star picket!
For rear end, I'll get the springs reset but I still want it to be able to carry a load, so I had thoughts of using the leafs (leaves??) out of a ute.  Knowing how rare B20's are, can anyone tell me if B120 leafs are the same?

sedan springs for the win... the weight won't be bad..
get rid of that dash top...
Wats look awesome..
you'll have to pester me hard for some centre caps... mabee.. kinda.. I'm not sure...
good choice on the tyres! better cushioning for sure to save the watas over potholes.
Are the guards lipped inwards to avoid scruffing when you lower her?
Im thinking adjustable gas shockers in the back with the air nipple out of sight is good
for raising and lowering the rear, I got quoted 200 a side which seems like a lot but
my old ford xp ute rode very well with them and never leakes for 18 years in the family.
Rear leaf can take another one from many kinds of cars even just another flat piece of plate.

Whats the plan for the interior? Im thinking matching hotrod glitter gold vinyl with white edges
and whitewalls striping on the tyres to match. Single piece rear side windows and white venetians
all round or white old style lettering advertising some of your interest or some old business/product

Mike replacing the dash top is definitely on the agenda, along with the whole dash. I'm wanting to unstitch it and replace it with a coupe dash (cheers Kdogg!) and instrument panel. I was thinking of centrecaps too, you'll have to bring a set to Levey's bbq... Along with the purple people eater!
Dave I'm still unsure of the interior, I'll probably just replicate the factory red trim. I'll leave the hotrod gold and tiki look for you to do.  The single side windows are a definite must! I'll have a yarn to some glaziers to find out about the custom glass, have you got any pointers on seals?
I haven't lipped the guards yet either, but yeah, good point. Many things to consider...

I spoke to Waynes Windscreens in Welshpool about the 1 piece glass for my wagon
He had some seal suggestions (he makes them there)
Thanks Neil, that's handy to know and he's not far from my work as well.  The other alternative is to blank them out with sheet metal, a-la the Purple People Eater (nee MSDRIFT), but I do prefer the 1 piece window look.

I wonder if I can keep the latch & hinges so they can open...

By the way Neil, will you be at Levey's bbq on the 29th?

Red interior is even better choice! maybe you can consider the white outer edges (I forget what its called) for that period look also but you can consider normal "C" sealing around well cut sheets of Lexan MR10 (scratch and shatter resistant) in order to cut the sheets to your needs you will need to use thin chipboard and some metal shearing scissors or similar to get the shape you need. The C section rubber can be got from almost anywhere while the inner lip can have the same C rubber but glued with black windscreen sealant (black silicon) and use honda Mk1 civic window latches which would work well for a pop out design as I did consider this and sort of wished I did it instead of a full sealed design as there is plenty of strength if you put a small tubular beam from top to bottom and matt black it so the tinted windows hide it.

Window tint - Hmmmm...

Maybe THAT can be colour matched to the Watas!

Gold window tint?
This is one seriously tidy wagon.
Cheers Wurzel! I have to admit though, she's a bit of a "Pamela Anderson"...

From a distance, she looks fit for her age but up close, you start to notice the filler and crevices.

Gold tinge window tint sounds good but defintely needs thin whitewalls for that fatter 185 rubber
